Beside this the Chinese fishing nets (that can be seen on the harbour), man made island of Willingdon and Jewish synagogues are other popular places to visit in Kochi.

Excursions from Kochi
Kochi allows the tourists to excur to various far flung places. Travel to the Alpuzzha beach (70 kms) and spend a night on the houseboat. The Periyar wildlife sanctuary (190 kms) is the hub of animals while the backwater destination of Kumarakom (88 kms) is a favorite haunt for the migratory birds. The hill station of Munnar is 130 kms away.

Moreover, NH 47 from Kanyakumari to Salem pass right through the heart of the city while NH 17 to Mumbai and NH 49 to Madurai (in Tamil Nadu) starts from Kochi itself.
