Kovalam Beach

Located along the overwhelming Arabian sea is a small town called "Kovalam". Also known as beach town this beautiful destination is situated 13 km from the Trivandrum city of Kerala state. Kovalam is a Malayalam word, which means the grooves of coconut. These grooves of coconut trees adds several moon to the beauty of Kovalam beaches.

Earlier it was rather a sleepy town, but as its beautiful beaches were discovered Kovalam has emerged out as one of the most happening destinations on the travel map. This amazing place was brought to the people's eye by the Maharaja of Travancore during 1930s. Finally it became more popular in the early seventies, when hippies arrived here. Hawa Beach
It is the second largest Kovalam beach, named after a topless European women who used to reside there.
